With awards given out across various categories, large and independent brands are recognised for their brilliance across various prestigious categories, including Footwear Designer Of The Year, Best Marketing Campaign and Best Use Of Social Media. 

Since August 1887, Drapers has been the leading authority in UK fashion retailing, so to be recognised by the company at the awards is an incredible achievement for any designer.

What are Drapers Footwear Awards?

Drapers Footwear Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the key players in the fashion footwear industry. 

With awards offered across several categories, brands can celebrate not only their design achievements and their sustainability efforts but also their hardworking staff, who, for many, are the familiar faces of these prestigious brands. 

Each award category contains certain criteria that brands and retailers have to meet to be in with a chance of being nominated for an award, with each nomination entry being carefully scrutinised by a range of the industry’s key players. This year’s judges included Colin Temple, managing director of Schuh, Peter Youell, managing director of Skechers UK & Ireland and Sarah Day, Course Leader of BA Cordwainers Footwear Product, Design & Innovation at London College of Fashion, to name a few.

This year’s awards, held on 23rd June 2022 at Grosvenor House in London, saw footwear retailers who had emerged from some of the most challenging times faced by fashion retailers, come together to be recognised for their achievements. With the Covid-19 pandemic disrupting the fashion landscape and forcing retailers to rethink their business models, it was a celebration of all that had triumphed over this changing scene. 

Drapers recognised businesses for their unfathomable ability to grow and adapt to these uncertain times while keeping their customers satisfied and their employees safe.

Rosamund Muir at Drapers Footwear Awards 2022

Rosamund Muir was up for two awards at this year’s Drapers Footwear event, Footwear Designer Of The Year and Best New Brand. 

Rosamund was recognised by the Drapers as Highly Commended Footwear Designer Of The Year, fighting off stiff competition from designers including Steve Topping at Barker Shoes, Nicola Sexton, founder of the Nicola Sexton brand and Alfredo Piferi, founder of the Piferi brand.

The Drapers Footwear Awards judges scrutinised the brands nominated, considering the evidence of standout footwear design, strong on-trend ideas, understanding of product and process, a deep understanding of the market and customers, technical skill, passion for the role and the fashion industry and the impact made by the individual on the business, before awarding Rosamund Muir the runners-up title. 

Due to her innovative designs, understanding of the artisan shoe-making process in the atelier and passion for sustainable fashion, this remarkable acknowledgement from the Drapers for a brand in its infancy can only mean good things for Rosamund Muir. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!
